FORTY-NINE

“God, come to my assistance.” John Cassian suggested this as the perfect prayer, appropriate to all circumstances.

“God, come to my assistance.”
I have friends who would say the sort version of this is, “Help.”
I like having short easy prayers that allow me to put things back in perspective. Nevertheless, I also like words. Some days I need to take time to have a long conversation, spill all the details, and then stop and say, “God, come to my assistance.” Because in the end, that’s all I really want or need and He already knows all the details.
