THIRTY-NINE

It is in the darkness, when it is quiet, when we are faced with our fears and our desires, that we turn to the One who brings us comfort. Chad Brinkman

Darkness and quiet are the times when it is easiest for me to choose to escape into fantasy. It is also the time when it is easiest for me to be still and turn to the One who brings me real comfort, real peace. Turn to the One who gives me a safe hiding place, not just a fantasy to disappear into for a minute. It is also the when I can be the most real, the most me. I’m not worried about how I look or who I have to please. I’m just me. I think that’s what the One really wants me to be, me. When I am being myself, with my real cares and worries, my real life, then He can give me real assistance, real love. When I am playing a role, living like I want to be somebody else, then His care for the real me won’t fit, it won’t feel like it helps. Today, I need that comfort to be the perfect fit. I need the One to bring me that which He has designed exactly, perfectly, for the imperfect, real me.
