FORTY

Let nothing disturb thee. Let nothing dismay thee. All things pass. God never changes. Saint Teresa of Avila

I have a friend who likes to say, “When I am disturbed, I am disturbed.” I think what he means by this is that when I have a problem with a situation or a person, it’s my problem. They don’t have a problem. I am the one who it is bugging. I work on not letting too many things bug me anymore. I don’t have time or energy to give to things that don’t help me move forward in a positive way. I also don’t want to hang on to things that are only supposed to be temporary in my life. Things that do disturb or dismay me are there to show me something or teach me a lesson. I usually find that lesson is letting go and letting God.
